Who We Are

Susy Peña is a self-shooting director-producer who creates intimate, cinematic portraits to explore gender, migration, and social change. Her work, grounded in sociology and a Master's in Documentary Filmmaking, humanizes complex issues through long-form, observational storytelling. Her short film This Is Forever premiered at festivals including Hot Docs and BlackStar, following her debut The Breadmaker (commissioned by The Guardian). She is currently in post-production on two short documentaries and in production on her first feature, Purity, continuing her focus on bringing overlooked human stories to the screen.

Alex Bartsch is a versatile and accomplished Director of Photography with nearly 20 years of experience working across documentary, journalism, and socially engaged storytelling. As co-director of Gato Negro Media, he has led the creative direction and post-production of multi-faceted communication campaigns for major international organisations and NGOs, addressing sensitive and complex subjects across areas such as health, education, and social development. His independent work, including internationally exhibited and published photography series and films supported by international funding bodies, reflects a deep commitment to innovative visual storytelling.

Celina Morffes is a filmmaker and educator specializing in community-based processes. Following her work coordinating workshops for Fundación Medatia, she served in the Art Department for major productions such as The Liberator (El Libertador) and Taita Boves. As a producer, her work centers on indigenous narratives, most notably the documentary The Last Shaman (El Último Shaman). She is currently a consultant for UNFPA, designing training programs that integrate audiovisual tools with Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), the inclusion of women with disabilities, and community engagement in remote regions of the country.

Celina Morffes

Adriana Somoza is an audiovisual producer specializing in digital animation, with a proven track record in content creation for film and television. In 2018, she managed the international co-production of her first animated feature, Mision H2O, across China and Cuba. Beyond animation, Adriana has contributed to documentaries and short films addressing sensitive indigenous themes and is highly skilled in archival research. Currently, she serves as a consultant for UNFPA and is promoting her latest animated feature, Sato, a dog´s tale, at international film markets.

Adriana Somoza

Gabriela is a Sociologist with a Master's degree in Social Program Management. She has extensive experience in coordinating and implementing development and social inclusion projects in vulnerable communities, including rural areas and indigenous populations. Gabriela has successfully designed and implemented innovative projects in the area of Protection and WASH for sensitive groups such as children and adolescents, achieving partnerships with local and international organizations. Her solid methodological knowledge has allowed her to manage vulnerable groups using participatory techniques, as well as manage databases and quantitative indicators.
